RULES (decide before you invite)
- Knock out on questions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 11.
- Prefer answers to 10 that describe a real routine.
- Cap selection per household and per postcode if you need spread.
- Keep a short waitlist for drop-outs.When to use it
- Before inviting testers from an open signup page or a tester community.
- When your own customer list is large and you only want one segment to receive the product.
- When a previous test produced feedback from people who would never buy the product.
How to fill it in
- Replace the bracketed placeholders with your category, industry, minimum age and test window.
- Write the knockout rules before anyone answers, so selection is not adjusted to fit the people who applied.
- Keep it short. Every extra question lowers completion; ask anything that does not decide selection in the feedback survey instead.
- Invite more people than you need: some selected testers will not respond after delivery.

Frequently asked questions
How many screening questions should I ask?
As few as decide selection; the template has eleven, and most tests can drop some of them. Questions that do not change who you select belong in the feedback survey.
Why include decoy answers?
People who want free products tend to select every option. Decoys and an attention check make that visible so you can exclude them before shipping.
